'kICK mBEKI OUT'
The ANC Youth League will tell the organisation's national executive committee at Friday's meeting to fire President Thabo Mbeki.
ANCYL leader Julius Malema said yesterday that they would also push for all people mentioned in Judge Chris Nicholson's ruling to appear before the ANC disciplinary committee and if found guilty to be expelled from the party.
These people include Mbeki, former director of national prosecutions boss Bulelani Ngcuka and former justice minister Penuel Maduna.
"Nicholson's judgment teaches us the lesson that both politically and legally those who dig graves for others finally fall into those graves themselves," Malema said.
He said the league had lobbied individual members of the NEC to support their call for Mbeki's removal at this week's meeting.
"It must be an NEC decision. It can take us a day or days but victory for us will be when Mbeki goes.
"We remain convinced that Mbeki's hold on the highest office in the land can only serve to deepen wounds to both the ANC and government."
He said Mbeki's conduct before and after the ANC conference in Polokwane and his attitude towards ANC president Jacob Zuma confirms that his (Mbeki's) time to lead had elapsed.
Mbeki's office was taking legal advice on the judgment that he could have plotted against Zuma.
