A positive development of the yearly Smart Young Mindz Challenge is its Alumni Club.
Consisting of past winners and continuing the aims of the project to encourage high school pupils to develop an interest and to excel in maths, physical science, engineering, technology, innovation and invention, the alumni's objectives include:
l Keeping track of winners until tertiary level and beyond;
l Providing pupils with activities and encouraging them to choose careers in the science, engineering and technology industries;
l Providing members with a platform to discuss science, engineering and technology-related issues, sharing ideas on current matters, careers and innovations in these technical fields;
l Supporting members providing mentorship to new pupils;
l Advising partners Blue IQ, Sowetan and the Gauteng education department on current school trends, empowering other pupils in grades 8, 9 and 10 taking part in the challenge andacting as ambassadors of the challenge. - Victor Mecoamere
