Boxing South Africa seems to be discriminating against some of its members by treating them shabbily.

One of its licensees, Amon Baloyi, spent a week in a hospital ward in Gauteng where he was admitted after he collapsed in the ring during his SA lightweight fight with Patrick Malinga.

No one from BSA bothered to visit the Limpopo fighter until he was discharged.

The same has applied to Hendry Ngubane who was admitted on Friday, September 5. He did not respond to medical treatment from ringside doctors and paramedics inside the ring at Graceland Casino in Secunda, Mpumalanga.

Ngubane, who fights out of Witbank under trainer Lawrence Ngobeni, collapsed in the sixth round of his boxing match with Norman Tshisikhawe.

Ngubane is still lying in a Witbank General Hospital ward.

But BSA has already launched a trust fund for Samora Msophi who died on June 30 at Cecilia Makiwane Hospital after the fighter collapsed in a fight with Mfundo Gwayana for the SA junior flyweight title at East London's Orient Theatre on June 27.

BSA's chief executive Bongani Khumalo said: "It's true nobody from the operations visited Baloyi, but lots of groundwork was done here. We delegated Solly Matsimela (BSA's service provider), who gave us three reports regarding Ngubane's condition."

But Ngubane told Sowetan yesterday that Ngobeni and Wilson Mofu are the only two people who have since visited him.
