Celebrated US muso, actor and prominent humanitarian activist Harry Belafonte is in Mzansi.

Belafonte is reportedly in the country to shoot a music video with the same crew that Loyiso Bala was using in Soweto at the weekend.

Belafonte was spotted on Sunday in Orlando West during the shooting of the R&B star's latest video, and apparently he wants them to shoot his video too.

Details of his visit were sketchy last night, but the star is no stranger to South Africa. It's a relationship that goes back decades.

During the 1960s he introduced a number of artists to US audiences, most notably Miriam Makeba and Greek singer Nana Mouskouri.

Belafonte has received Grammy awards for the albums Swing Dat Hammer (1960) and An Evening With Belafonte/Makeba (1965).

But his breakthrough album was Calypso (1956) which became the first LP to sell more than one million copies.
