After a disappointing performance on Sunday, Lusanda Beja was finally kicked-out of the I Want to Sing Gospel competition.

The competition, which is searching for the next South African gospel star, airs Sundays on SABC2. The panel of judges includes Lindelani Mkhize, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Sipho Makhabane and Jabu Nkabinde.

All contestants were asked to sing a song made popular by a male artist.

Beja, who escaped the chop last week, was the only contestant to be eliminated.

Mkhize was not pleased with his performance. "I am worried with your placing."

Beja said in his exit interview: "I always knew that it was bound to happen, but I never thought it would happen so soon. I am not disappointed because I know what I am culpable of."

Thabisa Ntseoane, who was up for elimination because of low votes, sang beautifully. She impressed the judges with her vocal range.

Sphumelele Mbambo got a warning from the judges.

"As always, your performance was good, but I think you are now in the comfort zone. You are becoming obvious and I want to see another side of you," said Mkhize.

Mbambo sang one of Lundi Tyamara's songs which the judges said did not challenge her vocal abilities. But, Mhlaba said Mbambo was a talented singer.

Charisma Hanekam, who sang Josh Groban's song You Raised Me Up, is one of the few contestants with star quality.

Hanekam, who hails from Cape Town, blew the judges away with her stunning performance.
