AmaZulu have organised counselling for the players, technical officials and staff after the death of their reliable striker, Siyabonga Mkhwanazi.
Mkhwanazi collapsed and died in his hotel room last Thursday night. This resulted in the PSL postponing their weekend game against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Philani Mabaso, Usuthu's communications manager, said: "We were all shattered by the untimely death of Siyabonga.
"It is even worse for the players because they were the ones to find him lying in his room after he had collapsed.
"The players immediately rushed him to hospital where he was certified dead on arrival by the medical personnel.
"He looked fine on Thursday at training where he scored some brilliant goals. He was in a jolly mood after training where he watched DVDs with his teammates.
"Our coach [Clive Barker] had included him in the starting line-up for the weekend game against Mamelodi Sundowns.
"After it was announced that Siyabonga had died, we decided to give all the players the weekend off because they were all traumatised.
"The players lived together, they are all coming back tomorrow [today]. We have organised counselling for everybody involved with the club. In the meantime, we are awaiting postmortem results."
Premier Soccer League chief executive Kjetil Siem has also sent their condolences to AmaZulu and the Mkhwanazi family.
"It's always a sad day when we have to hear such news. Our prayers and thoughts are with his family at this time as the country mourns the loss of a very good player."
Mabaso added that they were still in discussions with the Makhwanazi family over memorial and burial arrangements.
The Empangeni-born Mkhwanazi joined AmaZulu in 2001 from Chelsea. He is the third prominent soccer personality to have died in the country last week after Jocob "Bobo" Lekgetho and Solly Phetla.
