The first thing that comes to mind when we think of a Cadillac is its size. It is large and intimidating to a certain extent.
Now General Motors South Africa is on a mission to bring Cadillacs, with the exception of the Escalade, to our shores.
Back to the car that saw us flying to George last week. The new Cadillac CTS was officially launched there and we will see the coupe version joining it next year.
The eye-catcher of this great American is its interior.
The exterior styling does not differ much from the STS - it is a Cadillac from miles away.
The new CTS will make anyone who hated American cars fall in love with them.
Stepping out at the Simola Golf Estate in Western Cape the media was greeted by the stunning Cadillacs.
The list of luxury and safety factors is impressive, something on the level of the German auto makers. According to GMSA big honchos the Cadillac will be positioned alongside the Audi A6, though it is not a direct competitor.
The CTS is a true Cadillac in appearance and size.
It is an addition to the Cadillac range of the BLS, STS and SRX models that were put in the market over the past 18 months. This all-new luxury sports sedan fits neatly in between the BLS family sedan and the flagship STS.
Power comes from a 3,6-litre V6 direct injection petrol engine with variable valve-timing mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Maximum power is 229kW at 6400rpm with a peak torque of 374Nm at 5200rpm.
This exciting new model reaches the showroom floors at the end of the month.
