On Rhythm City, e.tv's daily soap opera, Stone and Tshidi co-star as close siblings.

But once the TV cameras have stopped rolling Senzo Ngcobo and Nokuthula Ledwaba have something else cooking.

Though the two have sought to keep their love affair out of the public eye, Sowetan managed to trace them to a flat in Newtown, Johannesburg.

Today we can sensationally reveal that the talented actors are sharing a small flat on the city's outskirts and have been going out for three years.

When Sowetan paid them a surprise visit yesterday the likable actor was clearly displeased.

He said: "It is true that we are an item, but we did not want our relationship to be out there. Things are much easier that way. You are really putting us in a spot."

The Mafikeng-born actor, who turned 25 on Monday, denied stories that the two fell in love on set.

"We met long before joining Rhythm City," Ngcobo said. "In fact, she was the first one to be called for auditions.

When they eventually called me we had no idea she had landed the job. The producers did not know that we were an item. It was just a coincidence that they took both of us."

Asked if the relationship had taken any strain with him constantly kissing another woman on set, Ngcobo said: "No. The fact that we work at the same place makes things easier. Had she not been into acting she would not have understood."

Ledwaba, who plays the role of a Good Samaritan, was quick to point out that their affair was not getting in the way of their acting job.

"We are both professionals and have been trained to do our job," she said.
