Technical glitches during the identity parades at Lyttelton police station in Pretoria may have deprived the court of valuable evidence for the FNB cash heist trial, the Johannesburg high court heard yesterday.

High-tech equipment designed to record and take photographs of people being identified by witnesses stopped on May 23.

Attorney Renier Spies said evidence generated by the machine was important because "it records objectively what happens in the parade".

Nine men are appearing in court in connection with the robbery of R46 million in 2006 from the FNB cash centre in Selby, Johannesburg.

The trial continues.
