A Polokwane family fears that their daughter, who went to Johannesburg to practice as a lawyer, has been kidnapped.
Nkele Matlatle disappeared after speaking to her father on the phone in May this year.
Her father, Bethuel Matlatle, who is a teacher in Ngwana Mphahlele, Gamaraba, told Sowetan that she might have been kidnapped.
"She called to find out about her daughter who had an ear infection," Matlatle said. "That was the last time we heard from her.
"She kept strange Nigerian friends, whom she introduced as clients. At one stage she was almost arrested after one of her friends left her with a bag full of drugs."
His daughter started working in Johannesburg in 2002 after graduating from the University of Zululand. She joined a law firm in Randburg.
"I raised a disciplined child who became a total stranger after she went to Joburg," Matlatle said.
"We heard that she was fired from the law firm because she took R20000 from a client.
"But we think she is still alive because we have been to mortuaries and hospitals around Joburg and could not find her."
The family has opened a missing person case at the Sandton police station. Police said they were investigating the case.
