The Greater BaPhalaborwa municipality in Limpopo is embroiled in a salary increment row with its manager, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni.

Ntshavheni, 31, has demanded that the beleaguered municipality increase her salary to a whopping R1 million a year.

This despite that the municipality had offered to cover tuition costs incurred when she worked for Trade and Investment Limpopo (TIL). TIL had given her a year-long scholarship worth R1 million to study in Canada. When she came back, she left them and joined the municipality.

Now TIL want their money back.

Ntshavheni joined the council on a salary scale of R780000 a year and it was adjusted at the end of the municipality's financial year in July. She had allegedly told the council her salary was an insult to her qualifications.
