An initiation school in Boikhutso in the North West continued operating despite it being declared illegal by cops.
This comes after the death of a 39- year-old initiate at the school while 14 others were rushed to hospital with septic wounds.
The initiates, who have since been released from hospital, are also back at the school. Their parents said they were told that those who did not finish the "course" would go mad.
"We do not know if this is true or false. We agreed not to take chances but to let our son finish what he had started," said one of the parents who refused to named.
Police spokesman Inspector Karine Fourie said police were investigating, with the view of closing the school down.
No arrests have been made.
