Vosloorus City Stars bagged the Coca-Cola Shanduka tournament title with a 2-1 win over Nigel Stars in an exciting final in Vosloorus on Sunday.

The yearly competition was organised by Safa Ekurhuleni and bankrolled by Coca-Cola Shanduka Beverages.

The home team shot into a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute via midfielder Bongani Xaba who converted a pass from Thabo Maleswena.

The visitors equalised against the run of play through the evergreen Themba Mnguni.

There was little to separate the teams in the second half until City Stars netted the clincher in the 69th minute.

The winners received R10 000, gold medals and a trophy, while the runners-up got R5000 and silver medals.

There was some consolation for Nigel Stars when their coach, Zebulon "Sputla'' Nhlapo, a former Kaizer Chiefs player, was voted coach of the tournament.

Their players also scored, with Thulani Kubheka named player of the tournament and Moeketsi Monaheng the top goal scorer .

Sowetan was presented with a trophy for its coverage of the event.
