Golden Gloves Promotions' starlet Grant Fourie has been given the opportunity to showcase his fighting prowess outside South Africa after he has consistently showed great potential to go places.

The "Fireball", nephew of former Transvaal and South African middleweight champion Pierre Fourie, will fight Greg Eadie in the lightweight division in Sydney, Australia, on October 25.

The two youngsters are evenly matched. Fourie, 25, is undefeated after seven fights with five on knockouts, while Eadie, according to GGP's publicist Terry Pettifer, is also undefeated after four fights with two short-route victories.

Pettifer announced that Fourie's debut outside home will be one of the undercards to the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior bantamweight title fight between Thomas "Merciless" Mashaba and Ugandan Jackson "Action" Asiku, who is based in Adelaide, Australia.

Pettifer, quoting Rodney Berman in a press release, said Fourie had been identified by GGP as one of the finest raw talents here.

"Grant is definitely one of our most impressive young talents and I don't mind saying that a good win in Australia could set up an eagerly awaited local match-up against one of our other undefeated prospects, Warren Joubert, early in 2009."
