Jubilation was the order of the day at the KwaThema Central Methodist Church in Springs, Ekurhuleni yesterday when 42 youths were confirmed in a ceremony conducted by the Reverend Smadz Matsepe.

Preaching under the theme Living Above Average, Matsepe said South Africans were embracing mediocrity, unlike the Jabez mentioned in Chronicles.

Matsepe told the newly confirmed members that God also wanted them to be ambitious and have a vision.

"You must apply your minds in order to be great people. You must learn to act on your beliefs. A fly is born surrounded by filth. But when it's time for it to die, it dies in a mansion or in a cup of milk. Like in the case of the fly, some of you were born in a shack, but this does not mean that you must allow yourselves to die there."
