The re-election of North West Premier Edna Molewa as provincial chairman of the ANC Women's League firmly puts the faction that backed President Thabo Mbeki in Polokwane back in control.
Molewa garnered 230 votes against Pinky Moloi's 211 at the conference in Rustenburg on Saturday.
Another Mbeki campaigner, Nono Maloyi, was elected chairman of the ANC in the province in May at Sun City.
The ANCWL conference, which was supposed to be held in June, was postponed because of a dispute over unregistered delegates.
Delegates who came from Carletonville could not vote because their name tags were used by unregistered delegates.
