Rod Stewart is coming to South Africa.
He begins his tour at the Sahara Park Newlands Stadium, in Cape Town, on December 1, then heads for the Absa Stadium in Durban on December 4, and ends up at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg on December 6.
Stewart is one of the most recognisable voices of our time. In his 40 years in the entertainment industry he has churned out many memorable hits .
The 63-year-old music legend had been knocking around the London club scene with groups such as Steampacket and Long John Baldry's band before he connected with ace guitarist Jeff Beck in 1968.
It was when he joined forces with the greatest party band in rock history, the magnificent Faces, that he truly came into his own.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s Stewart remained a constant presence on the music charts, with smashes such as Young Turks, Forever Young, Downtown Train and the massive All for Love trio with Sting and Bryan Adams.
His Unpluggedand Seated set reunited him with Faces mate Ron Wood and resulted in a big hit with his intimate version of Van Morrison's Have I Told You Lately.
As the century turned Stewart underwent throat surgery and also tackled some of his most ambitious material.
A remarkable interpretive singer, he's recorded songs by the finest contemporary songwriters, from Bob Dylan and John Lennon to Paul McCartney.
Aside from that unique vocal tone, perhaps his greatest strength is his ability to put across lyrics clearly and directly.
