COPS PROBE WOMAN TRIO OF 'RAPISTS'
If you are a hitchhiker in Phokeng, be warned. A gang of women rapists are allegedly on the prowl. Be on the lookout for a black BMW with four women occupants.
The four - three blacks with dreadlocks and one white woman - are allegedly terrorising hitchhikers in this township just outside Rustenburg in North West.
Two men have already fallen victim to the gang and the police have appealed to anyone who has been victimised by these women to come forward.
The latest victim, a 23-year-old man, opened a case of rape with the local police a week ago.
"We have only two reported cases but there might be other victims," police spokesman Constable Botshelo Mothutsane said.
The first case happened in July and the latest was reported a week ago.
Mothutsane said the women were aged between 30 and 37 but he could not confirm whether they were locals. Neither could he supply the car registration number.
He said they were investigating the cases.
Mothutsane said the gang members drove around in a black BMW in the Rustenburg area. They stop for hitchhikers and offer them lifts.
Once they have the hitchhiker in the car they offer their victim a spiked drink before driving to a secluded area in Phokeng, where they sexually abuse him.
"Last week they offered a man a lift and when he refused to drink what he was offered, they threatened him with a firearm," Mothutsane said.
The man woke up the following day, naked and not knowing what happened to him."
He said the first victim had come forward in July with a similar story.
"They pulled a sack over his head and drove him to an unknown area. He was kept there and raped for three days," said Mothutsane.
He said men should not be embarrassed to come forward to report such cases.
Last year a gang of three women went on a raping spree in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni.
One of their victims was treated for a bruised penis at a local hospital after the women pounced on him and forced him to have sex with them.
In another case they lured a man into the veld and abused him. The gang in Tembisa also used a BMW.
