A man caught brazenly stealing pavement bricks piled up in Commando Road, Industria West has given cops the slip.
He identified himself yesterday as Mr Hein from Auckland Road in Noordgesig and gave the cops contact numbers and a home address.
But they do not exist.
"This man fooled us. He told us that he had been contracted by a man called Khumalo to come and pick up the pavement bricks. He said he did not know if what he was doing was legal or not," police said.
Hein apparently started collecting the bricks on Saturday afternoon and continued again yesterday.
He was helped by four youngsters but they have also disappeared.
