Despite the SA Football Players Association (Safpa) having called for a boycott of the 40-40 celebrations in Swaziland, Platinum Stars will be taking part in the event.

Safpa said they took a dim view of the participation of Amabinneplaas in that country's celebrations, which are said to be costing the country more than R100million, while the people starve.

"We note with disgust the decision by Safa to allow this team to participate in these celebrations. We call on Safa to withdraw the team from participating," the statement said.

Safa media director Morio Sanyane said: "We we were invited by the National Football Association of Swaziland.

"We have invited them twice to this country, and they have honoured us ... so we see no reason not to honour their invitation."
