The family of a Mpumalanga woman, who was shot dead by her estranged husband together with their six-month-old baby before he turned the gun on himself, is still shocked by the incident.

The dead young couple has been identified as Cingwani Charles Dunywa, 29, Nomvula Dunywa, 27, and their son Sonwabile.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Themba Maswanganye, Nomvula's brother, said his sister had been involved in an abusive marriage and had returned to her parents' home in Ekangala three weeks ago. The couple lived in Secunda, Mpumalanga.

"On Tuesday evening, shortly before 10pm, I was at work when my brother-in-law called saying that he had been calling Nomvula's cellphone but she was not respond," Maswanganye said. "He told me he was coming to Ekangala.

"When I got home he was already there and they were quarreling inside the house.

"The man could not accept that my sister wanted to end their relationship.

"Later I heard three gunshots. I did not check what was happening but ran straight to the police station."

Constable Sally Skosana of Ekangala police confirmed the incident. All three bodies had bullet wounds in the forehead
