LOC makes it hard for ticket touts to score
Business-minded people hoping to buy 2009 Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup tickets in bulk to sell should forget about it.
The warning was issued by the Local Organising Committee at Safa House at a briefing yesterday to update the media on the two competitions.
Leslie Sedibe, head of the LOC's legal and ticketing department, said each person will have access to only four tickets per match, up to a maximum of seven games.
Information required when purchasing tickets includes name, identity number and address to make it easier for the LOC to monitor all the transactions.
"We are trying to make sure that as many people have access to the tickets [as possible]. There will be one main ticket centre in Johannesburg," said Sedibe.
There will also be a ticket sales centre at the OR Tambo International Airport and nine host cities. Match venues will also have centres dealing with ticket enquiries.
Phumlani Moholi said the LOC will set up a smaller International Broadcasting Centre at Ellis Park for the Confederations Cup. The Expo Centre in Nasrec, which will be an IBC for the World Cup, is being upgraded by the City of Johannesburg.
Skhumbuzo Macozoma said o f the 55 000 rooms needed for the World Cup, they have already secured 33 000. He added that the transport preparations were going according to plan.
Present at the briefing was LOC chief executive Danny Jordaan, who also introduced Derek Carstens as their new chief marketing officer.
