Kestell, the small town in the heart of the Free State, could be blown away during its 100th anniversary celebrations next Friday night.

This is because Free State boxing promoter Blacky Seoe and the province's sports department have included fighter Bongani "Cyclones" Mwelase in the celebrations.

The national welterweight champ will fight Anderson Clayton for the vacant WBF welterweight title.

Fight-starved boxing fans are in for a treat at the Multipurpose Centre because there's always fireworks when the lanky left-hander, a Gold medallist in the Commonwealth Games in Sydney in 2006, fights.

Mwelase has set the boxing scene alight with his big mouth and his crippling power, which has left 10 of his 11 victims gasping for air.

He is trained by Johnny du Plooy.

The "Black Panther" from Brazil is a former WBC Latino and WBO Intercontinental junior middleweight, and WBC Latino welterweight titlist. The vastly experienced campaigner boasts 24 knockouts from 29 wins and six losses.

Their fight will be broadcast live on Blow by Blow at 9.30pm.

Bongani "Dancing Shoes" Mahlangu will defend the WBA Pan African bantamweight belt against Martin Mubiru from Uganda in the co-feature while Gideon Buthelezi's South African mini flyweight belt will be on the line against Tshepo Lefele in the third title fight.

Other fights: super middleweight (8 rounds): Tshepang Mohale v Andile Tshongolo; mini flyweight (6 rounds): Nelson Mtshali v Bongani Mfundisi; junior flyweight (6 rounds): Christopher Mayekiso v Khanyakude Mukansi.

Admission is free and action kicks off at 6pm.
