The office of the vice-chancellor and principal, Professor CW Pistorius, says the medal is awarded to "individuals who have distinguished themselves in a specific field which generally falls beyond the strict academic sphere".
Mokgokong, past winner of the prestigious Business Woman of the Year award and many other honours, says she is humbled by this recognition.
She heads Community Investment Holdings Pty (Ltd), a 100 percent black-owned company she started in 1995. - Don Makatile
