Lady Boks scrum hard for qualifiers

The Springbok women's Sevens squad will hold a training camp in Uitenhage from tomorrow in preparation for the IRB World Championships qualifiers in Uganda from September 20 to 21.

The camp will be held at Brandwag High School and will end on Sunday with the announcement of the final team of 12, down from the current 14.

Other countries that will compete in Kampala are Kenya, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tunisia, Botswana, Burundi, Rwanda and hosts Uganda.

The two finalists will represent Africa in the IRB Women's Sevens World Championships in Dubai in March next year.

It will be the first South African team to compete in the Sevens tournament, but coach Denver Wannies is confident as the team have played together for a while.

Full squad: Yolanda Meiring (Blue Bulls); Natasha Hofmeester (Boland); Mandisa Williams (Border); Nomathamsanqa Faleni (Eastern Province); Lamla Momoti, Saloma Booysen, Lorinda Brown, Pumeza Gadu, Zenay Jordaan, Zandile Nojoko (all Eastern Province); Marilize Jordaan (Free State); Nombulelo Mayongo (Griffons); Aimee Barrett (KwaZulu-Natal); Nadine Barnard (Western Province).
