The divisions in the ANC are not only caused by hunger for power and government tenders but are also the results of undemocratic behaviour displayed by comrades who lost out at the Polokwane conference. They find it difficult to accept changes in the ANC so they negatively influence people l to disrespect the present NEC of the party.

If one looks at the violence at the party's provincial conferences you can see there is an undue influence exerted from a certain quarter to cause problems in the ANC.

This culture of violence is here to stay because people in power do not want to vacate positions in a dignified way. At the grass roots level, especially in rural areas, this is rife to an extent that councillors are treated like demi-gods - so when its time to go they resist.

It's ironic that some see the Jacob Zuma camp as being too problematic but turn a blind eye to those people who support President Thabo Mbeki - the same people who cause violent protests against the ANC because they oppose the NEC.

Its time Mbeki and Zuma asked their supporters to show political maturity and give the new leadership a chance to implement its ideals to the benefit of the whole country.
