A handy way to pay pending traffic fines

If you are still dodging "traffic cops" and coming up with excuses for not paying fines, or standing in long queues to pay your fines or are headed to court for outstanding fines, you can stop this frustrating process if you are a client of First National Bank (FNB).

If you are still dodging "traffic cops" and coming up with excuses for not paying fines, or standing in long queues to pay your fines or are headed to court for outstanding fines, you can stop this frustrating process if you are a client of First National Bank (FNB).

Customers who are registered for cellphone banking can now pay their traffic fines using FNB's cellphone banking option.

Len Pienaar, chief executive of Mobile and Transact Solutions, said the traffic fines payment solution on FNB ATMs was launched in 2005 and has since then seen a significant increase in customers using this option.

"We believe the cellphone banking channel is a natural extension that will enable customers to pay their traffic fines effortlessly," said Pienaar.

Payments of traffic fines on cellphone banking are free of bank fees.

HOW IT WORKS

Customers have to register for cellphone banking at FNB to use this convenient and secure option.

Traffic fine payments are available on the menu-based service or the web service for WAP-enabled mobile handsets. The process is simple:

1. Dial *120*321# on your cellphone for the menu-based option. Alternatively you can enter fnb.mobi on your phone's web browser.

2. You will be prompted to enter your 5 digit MOPIN (Mobile Personal Identification Number).

3. Select pay traffic fine from the main menu or select the banking menu option, then select the payments menu option then select pay traffic fine.

4. Enter the notice number, which is the unique traffic fine reference number that identifies the traffic offence.

5. Select the account you wish to pay from if there's more than one account linked to your cellphone banking profile.

Once you have selected the account, a confirmation screen will be displayed with the traffic fine details for you to confirm payment.
