Crooked cop Sean Twala - who is awaiting sentencing - was found guilty in court of extortion, intimidation, bribery and defeating the ends of justice more than three months ago, yet he still dons a uniform and goes to work as if nothing has happened.

Crooked cop Sean Twala - who is awaiting sentencing - was found guilty in court of extortion, intimidation, bribery and defeating the ends of justice more than three months ago, yet he still dons a uniform and goes to work as if nothing has happened.

Twala is also facing two other charges of corruption.

Asked why he was being allowed to carry on with his duties, the amazingly crime tolerant SAPS had the audacity to tell us about "following the correct procedures" before they can take any action against him.

Let it be said that Twala is no ordinary cop who happened to stray like all mortals do. He has demonstrated a disturbing pattern of committing crimes for monetary gain.

Even more sinister is that another corruption case against him had to be put on hold in April because one of the witnesses was mysteriously killed. Others were afraid to come forward.

It is this lackadaisical attitude towards crime that helps fuel the ever-rising crime rate.

And then we wonder why we do not feel safe anywhere - not in our homes or schools and even police stations!

We join the Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union in calling for immediate action against this rotten cop.

He cannot be allowed to bring further dishonour to a police force that is battling to improve its image.
