Free State Stars revisit the scene of a 6-1 humiliation by SuperSport United when they kick off their PSL campaign tomorrow against the league champions at Super Stadium.

The match starts at 8pm.

Stars, who were then led by Kinah Phiri, had probably not anticipated a catastrophe of such magnitude going into that clash in the second round of the league.

But that is all in the past and is never to be repeated, said Stars' team manager Rantsi Mokoena.

"SuperSport might be champions on paper, but what happened last season has passed. We are determined to improve on our performance and will start from day one," said Mokoena.

Having released one of their brightest in Thulasizwe Mbuyane, Stars raided the transfer market to strengthen their team, coming out with three strikers - Brian Senokoane of Wits, Paulos Masehe of Orlando Pirates and Mpho Maleka of AmaZulu.

It is obvious to see that new coach Owen da Gama will be going for the jugular, as the three join Diyo Sibisi who has been spearheading Stars' attack so far. Stars also went to Ghanian team Ashanti Gold and got defender Jonathan Nencer and midfielder David Tesler.

Defending champions United will be without the injured Anthony Laffor and suspended Letladi Madubanya. The players will probably be smarting from being kicked out of the MTN 8 by Mamelodi Sundowns and will want to reassure coach Gavin Hunt of their commitment.

David Skosana, United's public relations officer said the visitors should not be taken lightly.

"They want to impress their new coach. Couple that with the fact that they, like all the teams, will be gunning for us as league champions and we should have an exciting game," said Skosana. Winger Daine Klate, who has already rattled the net twice, Katlego Mashego and Glen Salmon are United players to watch.
