Police believe they have cracked a syndicate involved in stealing cars and hiding them in a remote area of Mpumalanga.
This is after three men were arrested yesterday in Pankop village near KwaMhlanga with four stolen vehicles, as well as suspected stolen electronic equipment.
Police said they received a tip-off from a resident, who saw a fast moving car entering a house in the village, and blew the whistle.
"Upon arrival we found four stolen cars in the house and three suspects were arrested on the spot," said Mmametlhake police spokesman Hastings Chaane.
The cars are a green Nissan Langley, white Mazda Rustler, blue Mazda 323 and a silver grey Honda Ballade.
"We also found stolen TVs and music systems worth about R30000 in the house," Chaane said.
He said it had been discovered that the Rustler was stolen in Wonderboom, north of Tshwane, the Honda Ballade in Sinoville, also in Tshwane, while the Mazda 323 was stolen in Bela Bela.
It is not certain where the Nissan Langley was stolen from as police are still looking for the owner.
The owner of the Mazda 323, Elda du Plessis, yesterday drove from Bela Bela to Mmametlhake after receiving a call from the police.
" My car was stolen from a parking zone and I had already lost hope of ever seeing it again," she said.
