Athletes will have another chance to showcase their skills during the Limpopo Premier's Half Marathon that will be run from Modjadji's Kloof to Tzaneen on Saturday, starting at 7am .

Last year's runner-up, Phasha Magagane is the favourite in the senior men's category along with Andries Pilusa .

Jane Mudau and Riette Taute could be neck-and-neck in the female veterans' category judging by their good finish last year.

The race is spearheaded by the department of sports, arts and culture jointly with Limpopo Athletics. It is expected to attract more than 1 500 athletes across the country. Last year more than 1200 athletes took part.

It will be the first time the race will be held outside Polokwane.

"The race is aimed at assisting Lima with the development of athletics," Adel van der Linde, department spokesman, said yesterday.

Licensed athletes are expected to pay R30 and unlicensed runners R45 for the half marathon, while for the 13km race licensed athletes will pay R20 and those unlicensed R35. Entry forms are available at all district offices of the department.
