The FNB multi-million rand robbery trial was postponed in the Johannesburg high court yesterday because one of the defence lawyers was sick.

As a result of Advocate Chris Erasmus inability to come to court because of illness, state prosecutor Deon van Wyk asked for postponement to today.

Erasmus represents Dick Ngobeni, 26, Jimmy Bilankulu, 37, and Muntu Mahlangu, 42, who are on trial for robbing the bank of about R46million two years ago.

They are also charged with attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

The other accused are Elias Thutse, 34, Fabian Damons, 32, Daniel Mathaba, 42, Vincent Xaba, 29, Themba Mahlangu, 32, and Simon Mncwango, 40.

The robbers were dressed in the uniforms of the security company contracted to guard FNB when they swooped on its cash depot in the city centre.A shootout with the police ensued .
