More than 60 housebreaking cases have been reported at Vosman in Mpumalanga in the past two weeks.

Police Assistant Commissioner Nico O'Kelly said yesterday that in most of the crimes the perpetrators had gained unforced entry to the premises.

"Despite the initiatives by police to sensitise the community on safety, ignorance still remains the prime reason for the occurrence of this crime."

O'Kelly said it was more disturbing that in a number of the crimes there were suspicions that the cases were reported to facilitate claims from insurers. - Sapa
