Pride on the line

A war of words has already erupted between Dynamos and Winners Park six days before the National First Division (NFD) Limpopo derby scheduled for Sunday.

Seshego Stadium is the battleground for this encounter.

One question that always rings around before a match of this calibre is "will Dynamos ever break Winners' dominance over them?"

Park have beaten the Dynamites in all seven matches in the 2006/2007 season.

"We will continue where we left off last season to ensure that we have a good start to the season, considering that it will be the first time we play Dynamos in the opening match. We beat them in the past, I do not see any reason why can't we do it again" Trevor "TL" Lekalakala, Winners' general manager said yesterday.

"There is no way we can undermine them as we want to do it for our supporters. The protection of our pride is always top on the table during the derby matches."

Dynamos boss Pat Malabela, pictured, said the time had come for Ri Khomeni Ri Nga Pheri to fight back against Winners.

"They must realise that we have snatched some of their players who were always contributing to our downfall and that they have also lost others to other teams. As both teams are on a rebuilding mission, it will be unfair for any of us to claim power," Malabela said.

"Winners must brace themselves for a stiff assignment this time around."
