The third season of Big Brother Africa (BBA3) kicked off at the Joburg house last night.

The reality show, aired on Africa Magic Plus, Channel 198 on DStv, promises many twists and turns that are bound to leave contestants and viewers intrigued.

Twelve contestants from as many African countries will share a house for 91 days. The house has 24 cameras and 52 microphones to keep viewers in the loop about the goings-on in the shared accommodation.

The contestants are from South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Angola, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria and Ghana.

The winner will take home about R765000 when the contest ends on November 23.

When contestants leave the house they become celebrities in their countries.

BBA2 winner Richard Bezuidenhout of Tanzania has gone back to school to complete his film studies.

The show's image was battered a year ago by a sex scandal. After a drinking spree Richard undressed and fondled Nigerian Ofunneka and Angolan Tatiana.

Paramedics were called in, Richard was taken to the diary room and the live broadcast was cut off.

Uganda's Maureen from BBA2 is expecting her first child and doing well in her fashion-designing business after she recently won an international fashion award.
