Jazz enthusiasts are expected to converge on the Witbank Dam in Mpumalanga to listen to the likes of Ringo Madlingozi, Stimela, Siphokazi, Malaika and others on September 7.

Tickets for the Sahlobo jazz festival will cost R120 at Computicket and Shoprite supermarkets.

One of the event's organisers, Bruce Kgapane, owner of Ziyaphenduka Promotions, said it was advisable for music lovers not to rely on buying tickets at the venue because they would be limited.

"Our other problem is that we would like to avoid congestion at the gate," Kgapane said.

"It is advisable that tickets be bought beforehand."

He said the festival was aimed at welcoming the public to summer "the season of life".

"Summer is the season of rain and you will remember that this is when trees start growing and all of nature rejoices.

"We aim to welcome everyone to this season," said Kgapane.

He said "the Black Diamonds" were also welcome to go and show off their sailing boats on the dam and have lunch while listening to jazz.

Bottles and dangerous objects would not be allowed into the venue, Kgapane said.

He explained that Witbank was chosen because it was centrally located for people from the provinces of Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

"Nobody can say this place is far because it is central to all three provinces," Kgapane said.

"Even people from as far as North West will be able to reach the venue easily in terms of distance."

Inkwenkwezi FM and Ligwalagwala FM are some of the partners for the event.
