Disgruntled staffers at Thobela FM, an SABC radio station in Polokwane, Limpopo, have accused a senior official of ruling with an iron fist.

Mamolefe Segakweng, the station's marketing manager, is being accused of giving preferential treatment to close associates while ignoring other staff members.

Sowetan is in possession of a dossier in which almost all staff members voice their concern about the manner in which Segakweng conducts her business.

They also accuse her of undermining her colleagues and being a law unto herself.

Sowetan has also been told that Segakweng has an intimate relationship with one of the station's top officials.

The staffers also accuse Leuba Ramakgolo, the station manager, of siding with Segakweng in disputes between management and staff.

The dossier says in part: "Segakweng always victimises us and we feel uncomfortable in her presence.

"We would wish something is done about the matter because continuing in this fashion will further demoralise us and render the station useless."

Segakweng, who was with Ramakgolo when called for comment yesterday, refused to speak and gave her mobile phone to him.

"O ur way of dealing with the media is through our head office," Ramakgolo said. "So call our communication office in Auckland Park ."

SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago said he was in Beijing and referred this paper to his office, the phone of which was not answered.
