The Cato Manor and Chesterville taxi associations signed a peace agreement yesterday to end the violent attacks that have resulted in the death of commuters and taxi owners.

Key to the agreement is that associations operate within their legal routes. Should either operator breach the agreement, they will be immediately shut down and their operating permits withdrawn.

The deal states that Cato Manor will stick to the Nsimbini route, while Chersterville will operate on the Inkosi Albert Luthuli hospital route with restrictions between the hospital and Durban. - Mhlaba Memela
