A 41-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly pushing her boyfriend into a dam on a farm at the weekend.

The victim drowned.

The incident happened on the farm Dewangdrift in Groblersdal on Saturday afternoon.

Police spokesman Superintendent Mohale Ramatseba said the couple was seated next to a dam on the farm indulging in a serious drinking spree when an argument ensued.

He said the woman accused the man of being unfaithful.

Ramatseba identified the dead man as Moses Malapane.

"We have charged a woman with murder after Malapane's death on the farm where the couple worked," said Ramatseba.

He said the couple came from the nearby Mpheleng village.

"We are investigating the circumstances that might have led to the killing.

"We also condemn incidents where troubled couples engage in squabbles that lead to a loss of life.

"We call on people to refrain from drinking in dangerous areas because that puts their lives at risk."

Ramatseba said the woman, identified as Anna Munyai, was refused bail in the Groblersdal magistrate's court yesterday.

She was remanded and her case was postponed until August 25 for bail application.
