The report "Medal hopes rest with track and field athletes" in Sowetan of August 15 refers.

I was quite stunned by the amount of misinformation in this report. To name just a few:

lHicham El Guerrouj retired from athletics on May 22 2006 and will therefore not participate in the 2008 Olympics, as stated in the report.

lNoah Ngeny (also mentioned as participating in the 1500m race) retired on November 22 2006.

lThe real shocker was Kevin Young, who last participated in 1999. Currently 41-years-old, I doubt he "...will be a handful to his rivals in the 400m hurdles".

lTsholofelo Thipe, pictured, is not a 400m hurdler as stated, but a 400m sprinter.

It is rather disconcerting that so many errors appeared in what was after all a relatively short report .

I thought I should bring this to your attention, since this is the Olympics after all.
