Two men and their 59-year-old mother were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms in Mthatha, Eastern Cape.

Superintendent Mzukisi Fatyela yesterday said the men, aged 21 and 22, and their mother, were arrested on Saturday after a tip-off.

"We recovered two rifles, two revolvers, a 9mm pistol, a safe where some of the firearms were kept, a laptop, two CD players and 76 rounds of ammunition for different firearms. The firearms were allegedly stolen from Southridge Park during a break in," Fatyela said.

The three will appear in the Mthatha magistrate's court today.

In a separate incident, 23 men and two women were arrested on Saturday night in Mthatha for drunken driving. - Sapa
