For Tshwane rivals Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United, there is far more to the MTN 8 first-leg semifinal clash on Sunday than the R8 million prize money.
The match, which kicks off at 3pm at Super Stadium in Atteridgeville, is about determining who the kings of Tshwane are.
This is according to United captain Ricardo Katza.
Katza reckons both teams go into this match with loads of courage and confidence. What the United skipper does not say is that the winner on Sunday will take a huge psychological advantage into the second leg in a week's time.
As both teams go about their business, the coaches will still be on a fact-finding mission to determine how the new signings are integrating with the rest of the team.
"The exciting part of the upcoming derby emanates from the swap deal that was clinched between SuperSport and Sundowns prior to the start of the current season," said Katza.
Anthony Laffor, who marked his United debut with a goal against Orlando Pirates in the quaterfinal, would want to repeat that feat against Downs, and so will Glen Salmon.
In their 1-0 defeat of Stars, the Brazilians' Benedict Vilakazi and Koketso Mmotong were impressive.
Michael Manzini, who made his debut at Downs 10 years ago, expects a tense encounter . In his time at Downs, Manzini has been through countless such encounters.
"The truth is that it is not about who wants it more - we all want it. For us, winning is the only thing,' said Manzini.
He is not fazed by the competition presented by the signing of virtually a new team, viewing this as just another chapter in his career.
