Eleven choirs and four soloists will entertain choral music lovers in Mpumalanga on Sunday to the Massed Choir Festival concept's 20th year of existence.

The event takes place at the Ermelo High School and features eleven choirs, several soloists and an orchestra.

It will be the first time that this concept, flowing from Transnet Foundation, SABC and Sowetan-sponsored showcases, is taken outside Gauteng.

This was made possible by funding provided to the Aggrey Klaaste Nation Building Foundation by the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund.

Another related provincial Mass Choir Festival concept showcase will be held in Northern Cape on October 5.

Mpumalanga's showcase will feature soprano Nombuso Ndlandla, mezzo soprano Nolubabalo Mdayi, tenor Given Mabena and bass singer Johannes Ntuli.

They will be backed by choirs, including Africa Sings, the African Serenade Choral Project, Kanyamazane Adult Choir, Phumula Chorale, Witbank Adult Choir, Wesselton Choristers, Ikhethelo High School Choristers, Ndlela High School Singers, Amadlelo High School Choir, ELCSAMO Lutheran Church Church Choir and Mhluzi Adult Choir.

Music directors Ludumo Magangane and Mokale Koapeng, who is also project manager, will be assisted by Piet Retief choir coordinator Letlhogonolo Moalusi, Witbank choir coordinator George Mohlala, Ermelo choir coordinator Zweli Mdakane and project coordinator Siphiwe Mbentse.
