How Rea Vaya will operate

Rea Vaya Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is an integrated land public transport system in which other modes of public transport, such as buses, taxis and trains, feed to a special or articulated bus that travels on dedicated trunk routes.

Rea Vaya Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is an integrated land public transport system in which other modes of public transport, such as buses, taxis and trains, feed to a special or articulated bus that travels on dedicated trunk routes.

The lanes are on certain roads meant for the BRT buses.

The buses will run from Lenasia in the south of Johannesburg to Sunninghill in the north of the city.

The full phase 1 will have 1200 buses. Taxis, other buses and trains will feed to the main buses at certain points. The full phase 1 will be 122km and have 158 stations.

This phase will cost R2 billion.
