Zola Real Glasgow are clear-cut favourites to win the Clinix Sticks Morewa tournament when they face Vine in the final at Safa Development Centre in Klipspruit on Sunday.

Kickoff is at 1pm.

Their record since the inception of the development tournament on May 1 speaks volumes. They are unbeaten, but had to work hard for a narrow 1-0 victory over Senaoane Gunners in the semifinal on Tuesday.

Coach Thabang Xulu said yesterday their midweek victory in the semis has inspired his team to win the competition.

"I am excited that we have eventually overcome the only team who were a serious threat to our ambitions of collecting a trophy, Gunners," said Xulu.

"We are not going to give special treatment to Vine because we have been treating the previous matches like cup finals," he added.

Glasgow has got young and capable players who can deliver the goods. They include midfielders Tshepiso Thulo and Thabo Nkosi, defender Evidence Sehlako who presented their club in the SuperSport United Under-19 tournament at the weekend.

Their agile goalkeeper Solomzi Hope, who has not conceded a goal in almost five games, will be hoping to keep another clean sheet in the final.

The tournament is hosted by Safa Soweto in honour of the late Sticks Morewa, former South Africa Football Association president.

In other finals, Diepkloof Newcastle meet Meadowlands Chelsea in the Under-11s and Naledi Youth Academy will take on Protea Togetherness in the Under-16 section.
