It's Pale Ya Rona Carnival time again.

Johannesburg will once more come alive when thundering music, colourful costumes and spirited dance envelop the streets of the city on September 6.

About 15 participants will join 45 troupes to march in the streets in celebration of a life of unity and comradeship.

This 4th annual event is expected to be bigger than last year. It will start from Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown and end at the Johannesburg Stadium.

The tourism department of Trinidad and Tobago will play an advisory role at this year's carnival. This follows a carnival conference held with Gauteng provincial government officials, the City of Johannesburg and international experts in carnival earlier this year.

And this year around, the provincial government has struck a partnership with the French Institute and the embassies of the Republic of China and Thailand, who will participate in the carnival.

The parade will be the culmination of many months of planning and the exchanging of skills with international experts.
