Former lethal African Wanderers and Kaizer Chiefs striker, Moran "Samora" Khulu, who died last week, will be buried today at the Gavala Cemetery in Madadeni, Newcastle.
Khulu, who was a prolific goal scorer for Amakhosi, died at his Newcastle home after a long illness last Wednesday afternoon.
The service will be held at the Mandla Cinema in Madadeni from 8am and the cortege leaves for the cemetery at noon.
Khulu, who became prominent while scoring goals for Durban African Wanderers became a hit when he joined Chiefs in 1984. He was a brave player and seldom left the field without scoring.
In his first season at Amakhosi he ended being the top goal scorer of that year. He was also voted footballer of the year the same season.
Khulu, of 7956 Section Five, Madadeni, is survived by his wife Monica and two children.
His uncle Boy Khulu said it was very sad to lose a man of Samora's calibre.
Chiefs' website states: "We received with sadness, news on the passing of Moran Samora Khulu, our prolific goal scorer of the eighties who set ablaze a winning and fighting spirit of Kaizer Chiefs.
"Joining us from African Wanderers, and scoring a hat trick against Wits University in his very first match at Orlando Stadium, Moran won the hearts of many supporters as he was a dangerous predator throughout his career at Chiefs.
"His feat can best be remembered when he assisted us to hoist five major trophies in one season. He holds a record of being the only player to score at every match we played at the Ellis Park Stadium; something that has yet to be achieved in modern day competitions."
