The taxi violence afflicting the Groblersdal area has claimed another victim with the murder of a man at the weekend.

The unidentified man was shot and killed while he was in the company of a woman on Friday night.

The woman was left unharmed. The victim, 45, was abducted at Zaaiplaas village.

He was found with a bullet wound to the head at GaTshehla village in Hlogotlou at about 7am on Saturday morning.

Police spokesman Superintendent Mohale Ramatseba said the victim was allegedly abducted by four men in a BMW sedan.

The men forced him into the car at gunpoint and drove off. The motive for the killing has not yet been established.

"It is said that the man used to work in the taxi industry around Groblersdal," Ramatseba said. "We cannot rule out the possibility of taxi-related violence."

Ramatseba appealed to members of the community who might have information that might lead to the arrest of the culprits to contact the nearest police.

Last week a taxi operator was killed while opening the gate to his house in the area.
