Holding thousands of petitions, 20000 women marched to the prime minister's office at the Union Buildings.
Ngoyi knocked on the door. It remained closed. No response. No honorable prime minister in the office.

The challenge is not so much to men as to the women of today to start where those women left off.
All women must play a pivotal role in our democracy.The reality of the situation black people find themselves in demands that energy not be wasted in the kitchen.
Women must move out of the vast network of domestic traditions and occupy honorable places in the community.
Women must capacitate themselves to be competent.
They must not get leadership or high positions because they are woman but because they are capable and deserve them.
They must be politically oriented and have leadership skills to lead our country
They must be like the women of the 1950s. Let us celebrate Women's Month in memory of the women of the 1950s and also the 156 women who were arrested for high treason and endured a four-year long trial.
