Striking is not for blacks only

I was surprised that when Cosatu called the national strike on the 6 August 2008 most of the white workers were at work.

I don't know about other companies but I am referring to the one where I'm employed.

It shows that whites still think that striking is for blacks and blacks only. It makes me mad because we are fighting for things that we use together. Petrol and Food. Is it because they can afford to live with this situation of high prices?

What surprises me most is that they do not appear to even care what goes on, what the strike was all about.

I think most, though not all, white people who do not care about what goes on in South Africa, must go back to where they came from. I cannot stand their pathetic behaviour of pretending that we are striking for our own benefit.

They have it in their minds that striking is for black people. Most of us do not own cars. They could afford to come to work because they drive.

If the government agrees to decrease the petrol price, who is going to benefit most? Them!

All they can talk about is the crime in South Africa. The negative things. They even have the nerve to tell you that the 2010 World Cup will be taken from us.
